Rare vintage B&L Ray-Ban W1911 Diamond Hard sunglasses are part of the Survivors Collection c early 1990s, featuring the B&L Diamond Hard scratch protection system which creates a lens surface of amorphous diamond that is ten times more resistant to scratching than ordinary glass. This surface also sheds water, reducing water spotting and making the lens easier to clean. The diamond surface is permanently bonded to the lens via an ion process, originally developed by NASA for the space program. These vintage B&L Ray-Ban W1911 Diamond Hard sunglasses are laser etched Ray-Ban in italics along with the diamond symbol on the right lens, and both lenses are laser etched BL near the hinges. The Arista 24k gold plated frame is marked B&L Ray-Ban USA impressed in the metal on the rear of the nose bridge, and the ear pad is impressed W1911 QNAW. The frame measures approximately 4.875" temple to temple making them popular with both men and women, and the gold mirror Diamond Hard lenses measure approximately 1.75" in diameter.
